Times are changing

It is the beginning of a new year and for some people this will mean change. You must keep in mind that with change come new things learned and new experiences. Some of what you will endure will open your eyes to what you cherish most.

I am personally going through change within my own family. My son is leaving to join the Air force and his departure brings many new and scary thoughts. I know I am not the first mother or person to experience such feelings, but nonetheless I felt this was the perfect time to share.

We all must grow and move forward regardless of how much we wish things could remain the same. Loved ones may leave, but they are never far from our thoughts or hearts. As you advance you must not lose sight or take for granted the things you find important in your life.

Until we meet again…..”You are never alone, someone is always thinking about you.”

What do you need?

Have you found yourself needing some kind of medical coverage? We sometimes take our health for granted, but if you have children you understand the importance of coverage. Since I was laid off from my job, and I have two children, I found dental benefits were very important. It is hard to keep up with all the companies out there. Finding someone to supply a list of all the current provider's was my first step.

Along with dental benefits I also needed vision insurance because I wear glasses. Since I am no longer covered through work, I had to find someone that would provide me with an affordable plan. It is important to find a company that will help you with all your needs. The reality of it, is that we all need some type of coverage to take care of ourselves and our families.

When searching for a broker or provider make sure you find one that suits your lifestlye. Don't get pressured into taking a company that doesn't provide exactly what you need. Remember our health is the most important thing in life and we must take care of it. If you're like me and have children, you already know how important it is for them to be happy and healthy.

Life and Breath

We have all experienced those instances where we experience an adrenalin rush or our anxiety is at a maximum. Sometimes during those periods we think that we have stopped breathing, even for a brief moment.

How many things have you tried that has sent your head spinning or your heart racing? Do you try different things in life that will excite you? Have you tried something you have never done before?

It’s not a mystery that life is short. Live each day as if you only have one more chance to try something new. Not only will you generate happiness, you will feel as though you are truly living.

We always tell ourselves that we will try something new tomorrow. When tomorrow comes we find another excuse. Before long months and sometimes years have passed when we find ourselves saying, “I wish I could….” or “I wish I had….” Don’t let time pass you by without giving yourself new thrills and new memories.

Until we meet again….”life is not about the breath we take, but the moments when it is taken away.

What would you do?

Everyone has interests; do you use yours to make a living? Is your current job one you would choose if money wasn’t an issue? Have you ever thought about turning your passion into an income?

All of us are enthusiastic about something. Some of us have the same interests as another, yet still remain unique because we all put our own “spin” on things. Are you someone with artistic talents? Wouldn’t it be great if you could paint for a living? Do you love kids? Have you given thought to a kids program you could run? The list goes on and on.
Sit for a moment and ask yourself, “What are my hobbies and interests?” We can all answer that question fairly quickly. Now ask yourself, “Could I do that for the rest of my life and be truly happy?” If your answer to this is “yes”, then your next step is to establish a way to make a profit.

This is where you need to be careful, because every excuse you can think of (and that is exactly what you will do) will come forward in your mind. In fact, planning a “new” future will seem inevitable at night, but in the morning you will think, “That is silly, I can’t do that.” Your fear of failure, anxiety, financial loss and other worries will surface, stopping you from proceeding.

These negative thoughts will put the life you should be living on hold indefinitely. It is your “ego” that steps up and tells your subconscious mind that it is not possible. The “ego” thinks it is protecting you from harm, but in reality it is stopping you from being truly happy.

Stop and think for a moment; if you currently made a living doing something you really enjoyed, you would give 150% of your self. You would get up every morning and happily go to work. You would eventually receive more money because you were content. If you could do this for someone else, why can’t you do it for yourself?

Until we meet again….”follow your dreams and live life.”

Stop Bullying

Bully; to treat abusively; to use browbeating language or behaviour.

When we think of a bully, we automatically think of children in a playground. Yet there appears to be more aggressive behaviour among adults. It is obvious that we are responsible for the manners of our children.

What makes us yell at another when we are upset? Why do we find it so easy to verbally abuse someone else? How can we treat another with such disrespect? When will we accept responsibility for our own actions? Why do we always justify our behaviour?

Regardless of the nature of your complaint, there is never an excuse to treat another person with belittling remarks or actions. Having a “bad” day is no excuse for excessive behaviour.

Whether you feel you are correct with the actions you are displaying, remember you are only hurting the other person. If this is not a concern to you, then you must look at the reason why. What in your life is so bad that you would feel it necessary to harm someone else?

It has been said, “The person you are looking at has their own problems to contend with; they don’t want yours.” If each of us threw our problems in the air we would want to take our own back. The next time you feel the need to “bully” another, stop for a moment and think. Who is this person? Are they angrier than me?

Insurance Policies and Companies

I never really understood the different types of insurance policies and their meanings, but after some investigating, things were much clearer. Some of us tend to think insurance coverage is for someone else, or we can’t afford the rates. You must explore different companies and when you find one you are comfortable with, ask them about their rates. You may be surprised.

Through my employment I have a group policy and for me, that is enough and it is cheaper than having my own individual coverage. According to some sites it is cheaper to have a group policy, but what I didn’t know, was there are other ways to get group insurance without going through an employer.

Maybe I am not as up-to-date with my insurance knowledge as others, but I have recently learned a lot. Several companies are extremely helpful in explaining the different types of policies and their meanings and some will even provide useful dos and don’ts. I truly enjoyed the knowledge I have gained and would recommend that you look into obatining a policy of your own. We all need insurance whether we want to admit it or not.
